newsletter_headers_tt

Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to the February edition of our newsletter, which is full of exciting news and includes details of our forthcoming events.

Staff News

We would like to welcome A and M to the team. A will be working on the upper floor with the rest of the Pre-school team and M will be working on the lower floor.

Holiday Club and Out of School Care

We still have some spaces available in our Before and After School Club. For details about the schools we serve, availability and session timing, please call at the office. We offer a Before and After School Club for Holy Trinity and St Mary’s.

Bookings are still being taken for our next Holiday Club, which will run from Monday 21st until Friday 25th February. If you would like to reserve a place for your child, or would like more details, please speak with E or S in the office.

Activities and Planning

This month we will be learning about nocturnal animals and the special adaptations that help them survive in the dark. Many nocturnal animals, like owls, lemurs and cats, have special eyes that see well in the dark. Some nocturnal animals, like bats, use echolocation, whereby these animals emits a high-pitched sound which bounces off objects; the sound is then received by the animal, giving it information about the object’s shape, direction, distance, and texture.

Dates for your Diary

Tuesday 1st February – Focus Country
Friday 11th February – Funded term ends
Monday 14th February – Valentine ’s Day – Please dress your child in red clothing
Monday 28th February – Funded term restarts

Focus Country – China

On Tuesday 1st February we will discover Chinese culture, traditions and cuisine. We will
dress in the colours of the Chinese flag, which are Red and Yellow. Please would you, support your child’s learning by encouraging them to dress in the Chinese colours on this day.

COVID-19

Please would you continue to wear face masks when dropping off and collecting children to help reduce any potential transmission.

We are also asking parents to be vigilant; if your child displays symptoms, please keep them off nursery and take a PCR or lateral flow test before returning to the setting. We have some staff members that are not fully vaccinated and coming in contact with a positive case means they will have to isolate.

Polite Reminder

Please be reminded that mobile phones should not be used whilst waiting to collect your child, and that you should arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the end of your nursery session, to allow sufficient time for collection and handover. Our regulator, Ofsted, regards use of phones as a child safeguarding issue and as such your help in this regard is very much appreciated.

Staff Member of the Month

‘Staff Member of the Month’ for January was awarded to J for her enthusiasm and support within the Pre-school room.

‘Room of the Month’ for January was awarded to Baby Room for settling in the new babies and for great teamwork.

If you would like to nominate a member of staff, please do not hesitate to contact the office, or ask a member of staff for a nomination form.

Best wishes from E, S and the Nursery Team
