Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome to the August edition of our Newsletter. We hope you enjoy reading all the exciting news and keeping in touch with upcoming events.

Partnership with Parents

Weather Changes

With the recent hot and sunny weather, please would you remember to provide a sun hat for your child. Nursery will provide sun cream, which is Asda’s own brand, sun protection factor 50. Should you wish to use a different brand, please provide an unopened bottle, labelled with your child’s name to keep here.

Social Media – Facebook

We love to share our nursery through our social media Facebook page for all our families to see what we do during the day; this will include information from all four of our Shine Nurseries:

Holiday Club

Bookings are now being taken for Holiday Club, which will run from Monday, 25th July until 2nd September. If you would like to reserve a place for your child, please contact the office. The fee is £32 per day; we just ask you to provide a healthy packed lunch for your child.

Before and After School Club

Bookings are now being taken for Before and After School Club, which will run from Monday 5th September from 7.30 am till drop off at School and from pick up from School until 6 pm. The schools that we offer these facilities for are Blackshaw Lane School, Crompton Primary and St Joseph’s. Please call into the office for further information.

Focus Country – Dominican Republic

For August our Focus Country is the Dominican Republic. We look forward to learning about this country’s culture, traditions and national cuisine. Please encourage your child to dress in Red, White and Blue, the colours of the Dominican flag on Tuesday 16th August 2022.

Teddy Bears’ Picnic

Thursday 25th August – We will be hosting a Teddy Bears’ Picnic for all children to spend the afternoon having fun with their friends, whilst enjoying some food and drink in the garden. We invite the children to bring in their favourite teddy and also their favourite book to read as a group. The book across the nursery that we will focus on is The Three Little Pigs.

Graduation/Fun Day

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents/carers who attended our Graduation and helped to make it such a memorable occasion. We hope you all had a fantastic time and made memories to take away with you to cherish forever.

Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month

Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month is a timely reminder to prepare our children for the classroom. Good vision and eye protection go a long way to their success in life. We will be looking at different ways in which we can protect our vision, ways in which eyes are tested and items that can aid vision.

Building Development

Some building work is planned to take place during weekends in September. The plan is to open up the wall between the Tweenie rooms. Disruption will be minimal, and the works, will as always, be overlooked by our architect. The idea is to improve the play space for the children. Tweenies will be relocated during this time, and you will be advised nearer the time of any changes to collection/drop-off points.

Staff News

Throughout July, all staff members have updated their knowledge on Special Educational Needs, and also a refresher was undertaken on nursery policies and procedures.

Staff Rewards

Staff Member of the Month

In July Jane was awarded ‘Staff Member of the Month for being supportive and helpful throughout all areas of the nursery. Please continue to make your nominations using the nomination slips, which are available at the front entrance area. Alternatively, you can ask your child’s key person for one.

Owl Competition

The June winners of our Owl Competition are Pre-school for their fabulous messy tray activities.
