Tiny Tree Leeds Newsletter – July 2022

The baby room at Tiny Tree Leeds

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome to the July edition of our Newsletter, which is full of exciting news and includes details of our forthcoming events.

Holiday Club

Bookings are now being taken for our next Holiday Club, which will run from Monday 25th July until Friday 2nd September. If you would like to reserve a place for your child, or would like more details, please speak with Jay at the office.

Staff Member of the Month Award

Congratulations to Millie, who has been awarded ‘Staff Member of the Month’ for settling back into the room after being away on maternity leave.

Planning and Activities

Throughout the month of July we will look at the season of summer. We will be planning various outings around our local neighbourhood to have a first-hand look at the changes in nature we can observe during summer.

We will also explore our ‘green fingers’ with our brand new greenhouse. Preschool are very excited to begin planting some seeds and seeing what we can grow.

Elsewhere in the nursery, our Baby Room have made a lovely new family tree display. If anyone from that room hasn’t yet, and would like to send in some family photos, we would be very happy to include them on our tree.

Our focus colour for the month of July is Pink and our focus country is Iran.

If you would like to get involved in our focus country celebrations, please speak to your child’s key person.

Summer Clothing

As the weather is warming up, we ask that you are mindful of this when dressing your children for nursery.

All children must be provided with labelled summer hats to wear in the garden. This is in line with our policy and any child without a hat will not be able to play outside on sunny days. We provide sun cream, however; if your child has any skin sensitivities, please feel free to provide an alternative; please also note the bottle must be unopened and labelled clearly.

We do, however, ask that you apply sun cream, when necessary, prior to your child attending their nursery session. We are obligated by our regulator to ensure all children wear sun protection cream whilst playing outdoors, so your understanding and help with this important issue is very much appreciated.

Parent Zone

All parents are able to access our online app to receive daily information, as well as observations, photos and invoices. If you are not signed up to Parent Zone, please let us know at the office so we can send you an activation link.

Personal Property

As a very busy setting, we ask that any personal property belonging to children is clearly labelled with their full names to avoid mix ups. We also ask that any toys from home are not brought into nursery to avoid them becoming lost or broken.

Additionally, for safety reasons, we ask that children do not wear jewellery, such as necklaces or bracelets or large earrings. These items, if worn, will be removed and sent home to ensure safety measures are maintained.

Dates for your Diary

Focus Country – Iran – Monday 11th July – Please join us to celebrate Eid al Adha as we immerse ourselves in the rich culture of Iran.

Colour of the Month – Pink – Please join in with us by wearing something pink on Friday 22nd July.

Activity of the Month

Ice Paints
In paper cups pour a small amount of child safe paint and top up with water to fill half the cup. Add a lolly pop stick and put the cups into the freezer. This is best done the day before to ensure the paint freezes solidly.

Once frozen, tear the cup away from the paint and get painting. This is best done outside as it can be quite messy.

Talk about what colours you have and what happens when you mix the colours and when the ice melts. The paint can be easily washed away with hot soapy water.

Best Wishes Jay and the Tiny Tree Team
