Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome to the August edition of our Newsletter, which is full of exciting news and includes details of our forthcoming events.

Holiday Club

Bookings are now being taken for our next Holiday Club, which will run from Monday 25th July until Friday 2nd September. If you would like to reserve a place for your child or would like more details, please speak with Jay at the office.

Staff Member of the Month Award

Congratulations to Lou, who has been awarded ‘Staff Member of the Month’ for checking in on her colleagues and supporting them.

Planning and Activities

Throughout the month of August, we will continue to explore the season of summer. We will look to get out into the community and explore local areas, investigating nature and local culture. We will be reading some of our favourite stories, enhanced by story sacks and themed activities, to help promote new language and extend learning through repetition and rhyme. If your child has a favourite book, please let us know, so that we can include this in our daily activity planning.

As I’m sure many of you will be taking trips this summer, we will also be looking at different destinations. We would love it if you could send us a post card or upload some of your holiday photos to ParentZone. ‘Bearemy the bear’ is also available to go on weekend adventures; please ask your child’s key person for more details.

Our focus colour for the month of August is Orange and our focus country is Jamaica.
If you would like to get involved in our focus country celebrations, please speak to your child’s key person.

Summer Clothing

With the warm and sunny weather, we ask that you are mindful of this when dressing your child for nursery. All children must be provided with labelled summer hats to wear in the garden. This is in line with our policy and any child without a hat will not be able to play outside on sunny days. We provide sun cream, however; if your child has any skin sensitivities, please feel free to provide an alternative; please also note that the bottle provided must be unopened and labelled clearly.

We do, however, ask that you apply sun cream, when necessary, prior to your child attending their nursery session. Our regulator obligates us to ensure all children wear sun protection cream whilst playing outdoors, so your understanding and help with this important issue is very much appreciated.

30-Hour Funding Codes

If your child receives 30 hours of funding, please don’t forget to reconfirm your code to ensure you are still eligible to receive the funding. The 30-hour codes need to be reconfirmed every 3 months; you should receive an email prompt from HMRC. Please ensure your codes are kept up to date so your child can receive the extra funding hours. If you need any support, please come and see us at the office.

ParentZone App

All parents can access our online app to receive daily information, as well as observations, photos and invoices. If you are not signed up to ParentZone, please let us know at the office so we can send you an activation link.

Dates for your Diary

Focus Country – Jamaica – Monday 8th August 2022. Please join us to celebrate Jamaican National Day as we immerse ourselves in this country’s rich culture.

Colour of the Month – Orange. Please join in with us by wearing something Orange on Tuesday 23rd August 2022.

August Bank Holiday – Monday 29th August 2022 – We will be closed for the August bank holiday on Monday 29th August and will re-open as usual on Tuesday 30th August 2022.

Activity of the Month

Bubble Sock Blowers
Using a plastic water bottle with the end cut off, attach an old sock over the end using an elastic band or string.

Dip the sock into the bubble solution and use the neck of the bottle to blow into the sock to create foamy bubble snakes.

Best Wishes Jay and the Tiny Tree Team
